I Must hHave Been Thinking with My Heart

I Must Have Been Thinking with my Heart

I am going to Italy in a bit, despite my newly reinforced dislike of flying , reinforced by the TSA ever-changing rules, thieving agents and recent problems with air flight in general.

I decided to go with my friend Marci, who knows, from long ago, the person who was going to take a small group on a GoAhead Tour to Italy for two weeks.  Rooming together will save the single supplement. She knows the guy from Junior High. She has been to Europe and Iceland recently.

The last time I traveled, I had no cell phone, no iPad , and no idea of how luxurious a safari to Kenya and Tanzania could be. I just knew that the safari would fulfill a livelong dream.  This time I am going somewhere I was sixty years ago , in civilization , with communication with the outside world.  This also fulfills an obligation. I was young, and dumb and threw a coin in the Trevi Fountain.

Anyway, after I committed myself, things changed just a bit.  We did not get enough people to have a private tour. I found out that this outfit was well known for its student tours, one of which my youngest took and swears never to return to Mexico.  The date of the tour was changed slightly, not a big deal.  Our flights were changed time-wise, also not a big deal, since Marci took care of that.  What with the long lines of the TSA, I just hope that we get to the airport soon enough to make our flights.

The itinerary looks very nice. tracing the usual tourist areas only backwards. Starting with Lake Como, we wend our way down and around until we end up in Rome. We bypass Naples to stay in Sorrento.   I would have preferred longer in Pompeii and less time in Assisi.

My hopes are for Diet Coke ( Coke Light), Venetian glass necklaces, a skilled bus driver of a bus with bathrooms, a good guide, not too many Duomos, churches and monasteries and gelato for lunch.
